Alongside finishing off the album I've been doing some collaboration work, and one of the things I've worked on is coming out on Monday 13th February, and it sounds like this:

Figure of 8 is a brilliant new producer, and Sophie Galpin is one of my amazing backing singers for the live show (and also rocks out with My First Tooth). We came together to make this track that I'm really proud of.

Full remix EPs are coming on Monday, but for now you can get the radio edit free here!

Joining us at our new venue, Vogue Fabrics, on November 12th, we cannot wait to hear what will no doubt be his unique take on all things 90s. This is going to make you FREAK.

Just got back from the 4.30am ferry, drive back to London, and the best weekend in so long at Bestival.

Weekend Listening : The end of a troubled week.

So it's been a very turbulent week. A lot of people's homes and lives have been threatened and/or destroyed in what was a very sad time. You may be aware that I am a big fan of, and lucky enough to call a friend, Nerina Pallot.

Well, she's just released a new single 'Put Your Hands Up' and it's great! She's got such a great way of writing (as you might have heard on Kylie's 'Aphrodite') and has a brilliant voice.

I was her support act last week at Bloomsbury Theatre, so got to hear lots of the songs from her new album. They're VERY good, particularly 'History Boys'.

Fairly safe to say that SXSW was absolutely amazing. We - my band and I - had SO much fun in Austin. 85 degrees most days and about 85,000 great bands.

How To Make A Heart

I might have mentioned before that I'm collaborating with lots of new directors to make videos for the songs on the album I'm finishing off. Well, here is one of them, timed nicely with the "day of love", bringing you a tale of a robot very much not in love.

In the winter months I hid myself away doing some writing and some remixing. One of the remixes I did was for ace US singer Hesta Prynn, and the remix is the bside of her new single 'Turn It Gold' which comes out through AMAZING UK indie label Too Pure on the Monday!

This Thursday (10th) she's playing at The Old Blue Last in Shoreditch, and I'll be doing a DJ set on the night. For now - enjoy the video and the original version.

So for Christmas, I got something amazing. A fan in Washington State saw the cover I'd done of 'Falling' from Twin Peaks and did the most incredible thing in going to the locations of where Twin Peaks was filmes, and took footage for me so that I could make a video to my version.

This is amazing, and far beyond the call of duty given how much footage he took and all the locations he covered, so, thanks to the wonderful Matt Kumma, I present to you my video for 'Falling'...

We played at Guildhall, Southampton a few days ago, and to my absolute delight - our dressing room had an amazing Bosendorfer - the piano that Tori Amos famously used on most of her albums.

We just started our THIRD (!) week of tour with Ellie and Sunday Girl. That went fast!!

So with only 7 dates left to go of tour, let's have a little re-cap of what's been going on.

MANCHESTER was an awesome show : a huge room with a massive crowd, some good friends including Thierry from Teez FM in Paris who I make a monthly podcast for, and a brilliant atmosphere.

We played 'Love Part II' (obvs) and it was captured on film here!

So we've been been on tour for just over a week now, which has absolutely rocketed by ... and it's been a total blast! We've been spending loads of time with Sunday Girl and been marvelling in how fantastic Ellie and her band are. Such a great group of people to travel with.

The crowds have been super fantastic, everyone on tour is really fun, really friendly and a total pleasure to tour with.

Today I went to Charlie Le Mindu's show at London Fashion Week and Alun had made some of the pieces for the show, which made me very proud! Add this to the long list of things he's done, like costumes for Lady Gaga's dancers, set design and art direction La Roux's 'Bulletproof' video and you have a man with a very bright future!

Sadly not referring to the great Passion Pit album, but to something that quite depressed me this morning.

I'm all for blogs, I've found some amazing tracks that way, and I'm all for sharing music. HOWEVER - this appeared in an email alert this morning

I know I'm going to sound like a spoilsport but really ... the single isn't out until 13th September. If you actually like the songs (and I checked, the zip has all 3 single tracks) can't you at least give it a fighting chance and share it AFTER it's been released?

Also, I DON'T EVEN HAVE A COPY so how the hell "Anabel" managed to get it is beyond me.

I feel very lucky to be able to make music full time, but honestly, it's a really depressing feeling to see your tracks being uploaded almost 2 months before it's out. I don't make music to make money, but bands and artists have to work really hard, and spent money making these tracks. Please don't do this!

Basically, 'Love Part II' is coming out as a single on Monday 13th September (12th on iTunes) as a deluxe CD also featuring 'Cry At Films' on which my friend Del Marquis from Scissor Sisters does backing vocals and guitar, AND a remix by Pepptalk.

Kelis' new album

Is amazing.

My copy arrived yesterday morning and has been playing non stop since!
I've been banging on about 'Acapella' for so long now, it's so good to have more tracks to obsess about!

'Fleshtone' is out now! And I highly recommend it.
(Despite the artwork being a little underwhelming)
'Scream' and 'Home' are my favourites. SO GOOD.

'Debris' - a very flattering cover version!

Through this weird and wonderful thing called the internet I met a lovely lady called Jessica, who plays music as Miss Jess.

We've been talking for ages and today she sent me this video of her and a friend covering my track 'Debris', which is fantastic! It's a really incredible feeling when someone likes your song enough to do their own version.

Fantastic new play ... this week only!

A non-music post...!

I went to see an amazing performance last night. It was in fact the best piece of theatre I've seen in the last year or so. Fringe theatre is always a bit of a risk, but there's a new theatre company - Raven Theatre - who have picked the writing of an American playwright and made a really incredible performance.

It's called 'Patio / Porch' and deals with two separate stories of two women in different time periods in America's South. It's So well acted, with a great set and great live music too. The second half is the BEST performance I've seen in SUCH a long time.

The Tiny - gig tonight in London

I don't very often do this, but I think this band are worthy of more people's attention.

I'm going to watch The Tiny play at Borderline tonight. I played a show with them back in 2006 and fell head over heels in love with them. I tried to catch them at SXSW last year but that didn't happen, and now they have one show in London.

So if you're as obsessed with the new Kelis track as I am, you might have seen this floating around:

Now, I love a good mashup, and I love these two tracks, and it's ALMOST perfect, until in the verse the vocals are just in a totally different key and it sounds really weird.

So I made my own mashup (on request from a friend) called 'Milkbot'.
